Diagnostic Assessment
Examines what a student knows and can do prior to a

learning program being implemented.

Formative Assessment
Used by teachers and students during instruction that

provides feedback to help students improve their achievement.

Summative Assessment
Used after instruction to measure student achievement

that provides evidence of student competence.

Recognize the types of assessment used for measuring the students learning. Identify the moments where the three types of assessment are applied. Mention some alternative ways for assessing the students learning. Classify different types of tests with the three types of assessment. Analyze the main function of each type of assessment. Design a concept map about the types of assessment using Cmap tools software.

It is important that every teacher uses the proper tools for assessing his/her students. In addition, those tools have to be placed within the three types of assessment in order to carry out their main functions.
