A TEENAGER died after
being struck by a taxi as he
crossed a Preston road dur-
ing a night out with pals.
Tributes were paid today to the
17-year-old who died from in-
juries he received following the
collision with the cab in Tom
Benson Way, Ingol, on Saturday.
The youngster, who has been
named locally as Alex Young, had
been enjoying a night with friends be-
fore tragedy struck at around 9.20pm.
The youngster died of severe head
injuries and was pronounced dead at
the scene, which is close to the en-
trance of the Preston Sports Arena.
David Aspden, chairman of the
Ingol and Tanterton Youth Associa-
tion, who arrived at the scene mo-
ments after the accident, said: “We
just wish we had been down there
earlier. That boy’s face is something
that will live with me forever.
