Importance of education in rural areas India is a country where 70% of its population resides in villages.

With the beginning of computerization, difference in the standards of education between rural areas and urban areas have become quite visible. The only medium for providing education in rural areas is through government schools and colleges. Privatization of education doesnt help rural areas, as there isare not much financial returns in these areas. But, the level of government schools and colleges are deteriorating day by day. These institutions are increasing the number of degree and certificate holders, without actually providing proper education which that can help the students in enhancing their level of thinking. The problem lies in the Indian education system where passing the examination is more important than gaining knowledge. We are still not sure about the role of English in our education system. In rural areas, students cannot speak or read English. It hampers their chances in higher education. They feel uncomfortable in using technology or using social media. The level of faculty is also a big problem area because government teachers are unwilling to teach in rural areas. This unwillingness results in poor quality teaching and poor quality students. There is a greater need to redesign the whole education system. We need an education system which that generates qualified professionals and not the just degree holders. The requirement of rural areas is different than the requirement of urban areas in many ways. The aim of education in rural areas should not be such that after completing education they move to urban areas in search of jobs. They should be trained so that they can improve the quality of life in rural areas. It should incorporate study of animal farming, cultivation, primary health care etc. They need to teach English from primary education because it has become a global language. It will also help them in adopting internet the Internet and related facilities. Score: 2.75/5
