THE SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION & CULTURE

To Whom it May Concern: I am writing this letter to offer my sincerest recommendation in favor of Alexandra Ridley as a recipient of the Brenda Lawson Brown/ Howard University Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. Currently, Ms. Ridley is a student in my Principles of Speech course here at Howard Univeristy. In the past semester I have known Ms.Ridley, it has been my privilege to watch her grow in two areas that exemplify her worthiness of the honor you'd bestow. First of all, Ms.Ridley has grown academically across a wide range of disciplines appropriate to her educational level. This was demonstrated through her ability to link the principles of speech course to her other coursework. Ms.Ridley is constantly relating the course material to other courses she has taken by providing personal examples. I believe her current success in the principles of speech course has instilled the necessary foundation to ensure ongoing achievement and thus demonstrates Ms.Ridleys future application of effective communication. A second aspect of my experience with Ms.Ridley that leads me to believe her to be an ideal candidate for your scholarship is the breadth of extra-curricular activity in which she has been active in during her educational career at Howard Univeristy. Ms.Ridley has participated in various non-core events at an exemplary level. Such activities include involvement in Howard University Broadcast Network (HBN) as a member of the broadcast team. Ms. Ridley also takes her passion for television and radio broadcasting outside the university. Ms. Ridley is currently a radio personality for Elite DC Radio, located here in the District of Columbia. I believe that your scholarship monies will be well spent with this young scholar. I have every confidence that she will complete her studies and complete them in a way that brings honor and esteem to the traditions and goals of the Brenda Lawson Brown/ Howard University Alumni Association Scholarship. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
