2014 Scholarship Application

Another Choice, Another Chance in conjunction with Anani Institute is offering an opportunity for 6 youth to become Future Substance Abuse Counselors. Alcohol and drugs are prevalent in our community and an effective way to help combat the problems is to train peers to become professional counselors. It has been shown that peers can play a uniquely effective role in encouraging their peers to consider, talk honestly about, and develop responsible attitudes and lifestyles regarding alcohol and drugs. This training program leads to the certification as A Registered Addiction Specialist which is a certification that is recognized in over 40 states and 14 different countries. This training program provides high-quality career preparation in the field of addictions. There are 6 scholarships available for this training. If you or someone you know is between the ages of 16-18, lives in Sacramento County and desires to help others and is willing to participate in a 6 month training program please complete the following scholarship application. Class is scheduled to begin March 1, 2014. To apply for the Future Substance Abuse Peer Counselor scholarship, applicant must complete application by the January 30, 2014 deadline. In addition applicant must: 1. Complete application with a 300 word essay as to why you would like to become a counselor. 2. Two letters of recommendation. 3. Live in Sacramento County. Application and letters of recommendation must be submitted electronically through this form.
