SWOT Analysis of taj Strengths: The major strength of the property is the fact that they are the

only ecotel i.e. the environmental hotel around that place which makes them unique in a way. The Wellness clu which is situated in the lo y area is a well known and a renowned place to e for the local visitors. !t is a well maintained all instruments fitted fitness gym which also has a sauna and steam ath. This often is the attraction of the in house guests. "aving said that the hotel is very close to the international airport many international airlines prefer the hotel for the compensatory stay to the layover guests. #ayover guests are the guests whose flight has een delayed or cancelled for some reason and are offered the fine accommodation and the food and everage facility to them. The property has si$ anquets and conference halls which have conducted many successful conferences as well as anquet parties till date. This is the main attraction for many small udget companies to have their conferences in a lu$urious atmosphere. The employees are given a certificate of honesty which keeps them motivated to e loyal to the guests as well as the property. The %oolside &estaurant is a well known attraction among the higher middle class families for a peaceful reakfast lunch and dinner facilities. !t also conducts food festivals as other hotels do which makes the restaurant even more attractive for the targeted market.

The occupancy percentage of the hotel is generally very competitive with regards to its range of hotels which it fits in.

'asic weakness of the hotel is again the locality. 'eing situated off the road it may see a significant impact on the (!T guests ) (!T denotes (ree !ndividual traveller * The "otel having the est possi le kitchen as e$plained earlier lacks the major departments of the kitchen that is the akery and the utchery section. There is a small akery which handles small orders of cakes etc and needs an attention of the management.

The solution the management found was to ring the akery and the utchery items from their sister hotel The Orchid which is situated near the +omestic Airport and is managed y ,"!# itself ) ,amat "otels !ndia #td. * The "otel also has a asic pro lem of internet as the wi-fihas not een installed in the property and the internet access has to e given to the guests individually. Also the !nternet facility provided is not included in the rack rate and needs a fair it of attention. The solution the managementfound was that they have introduced thepackage ofrack rate plus the internet rates which is quite fair in order toreduce the initial installation cost of the wifi. The "otel as seen has not upgraded the hotel management software and has stuck to %.S i.e. %roperty .anagement System whereas the other hotels in the locality may have upgraded it to the Opera or the (idelio which are the industry/s current softwares which are faster in performance and standards. The hotel also lacks the mini ar technology wherein if the product is removed from the ar and is not kept in 0 minute the product is charged on the guests ill. This technology helps save the time of checkout of the guests as the mini ar handling steward does not have to attend every checkout room on the spot. "e gets some uffer time having the room cleaning to e done.

The "otel also uses the whitney rack system and needs to e upgraded to the fully computeri1ed system which would serve the hotel/s motto of saving the environment y reducing the amount of paperwork. This would also reduce the hustles and ustles of the reception staff as they would not have to check each and every ill. This would also reduce the work of the night auditor. The "otel lacks the proper swimming pool which is located ne$t to the restaurant and there is no privacy for the swimmers which they may feel a it weird Opportunities With the upcoming government plans and incentives for the "otel !ndustry as e$plained earlier2 the 3!TS has een one of the hotel chains who are growing their usiness y introducing more and more properties as e$plained earlier. This is the part where the "otel 4hain 53its6 has capitali1ed and has gra ed upon the opportunities. The upcoming opportunities for the chain on the whole are the cricket world cup which is scheduled to e organi1ed in7800. We have taken this as an opportunity ecause the hotel has a chance to capitali1e on the world cup y targeting audiences from !ndia as well as around the world. They could have special facilities designed for the fans of cricket y

introducing the us service or the special ca service for the fans to the stadiums in and around the world cup venues. 4apitali1ing on the world cup would help uild a new customer profiles and the service the guests perceive would hold the key and would help the usiness y seeing loyal mem ers in them in the coming years. The concept of the cele rity chefs has not een that popular in !ndia andthis could e th opportunity y hiring the cele rity chefs and throwing thecele rity special dinners etc. which the guests would relish. Threats The recent 'om 'last in .um ai/s est "otels would e seen as a iggest threat as the consumers9 guests would have een afraid of the fact that the terrorist activities could e prevalent. 'ut as !ndian government came up with the :S; ) :ational Security ;uard* 'ranch specially for .um ai2 this threat would have een diminished. One more threat for the "otel would e the local < star properties which would o viously e trying to succum the pressure put y the 3!TS y introducing their new policies and the discounts. The local "otels which may try to introduce the competitive marketing plans are the ,ohinoor 4ontinental and the .irador. =ven then the "otel has een doing well with an upper hand in the Occupancy percentages of the local "otels. The upcoming concern for the "otel could e the recent changes in the

human ehaviour towards the health and living. %eople have started ecoming more and more conscious a out having low calorie2 low salt and spices food which may e a threat if the menus are not worked out for those guests demanding that type of food.
