School phone: 706-253-1830 Welcome to 7th grade Math!!! I look forward to spending the year with you, getting a deeper understanding of math and pre algebra. The Georgia Performance Standards cover material ranging from number sense to geometry, algebra, and probability. You should know by now, that math builds on itself. It is important to have complete understanding of each concept as we move through the curriculum. I would encourage you, if you find that you are struggling, to come and see me in the mornings during or remediation The earlier you catch the difficulty, the easier it is to fix it AND the less it will impact your understanding of future concepts. My email address is provided for you, as well, if you have any questions or concerns. The grading policies for 7th grade math are as follows: Tests..50% Quizzes35% Daily Grades.15%

Syllabus: 7th Grade Mathematics

Class Procedures:
Homework: As we go through the units, homework will be assigned almost nightly. This homework may include anything from bookwork, to worksheets, to projects, to studying for tests. Although homework may not be taken up daily, due dates will be given and work is expected on that date. A late penalty of 10 points per day late will be applied to any late work. Once a progress report or report card has been sent home, no work due prior to that grade report may be made up, and you will receive a grade of zero. Notebooks: All notebooks must have dividers to keep your work organized. All CRCT Work will be kept until the test is taken in April. Periodically notebooks will be taken up and graded for completion of work. Projects: We will be doing a fair amount of group work this year. The state has specific performance tasks that we will be doing in pairs and in groups. Some of them will be easy, some will be more difficult. But teamwork will help you be successful. Tests: Tests will be given at the end of each unit. In addition, cumulative mastery tests over 2-3 units may be given for a grade, and benchmark tests may be given (this grade is purely to monitor progress and will not be factored into the class average). Study guides may be given for unit tests but, in general, studying your work and notes is just as effective. Students receiving a failing grade on a test will be given the option of retaking the test during morning remediation or after school. Any student passing a test but wishing to improve their grade may make test corrections and earn back credit for each correct answer. Lets have a great year!!!!
