Itwasthelastdayofthe BoryeongMudFestival,anannualbeachpartyfamousamongWesternexpatsforbeingasmessy withmudaswithalcohol,andJeonghad,truetocharacter,consumedenoughsojuthatweekendto intoxicateasmallvillage.Thiswasnotatriphedbeenkeentomake.Anavidhikeranddistance runnerwithanencyclopedicknowledgeofthecountrysmountainsandwildlife,Jeongcreatedhis grassrootstravelgroup,LovableBusan,forexpatstoexploreKoreasoffthebeatentrackside. TheexpatstriedtoexplainthatJeongdefinitelyhadtheirmoney.Itwasmandatoryforeveryoneto havetransferredtheir70,000woninadvance.ButtheKoreansmessagewasclear:Yourfriend needstopayus. Mitchellandtwootherexpatsformedasearchparty.Theyspeddownthemainstreetforahalfhour, jumpinginandoutofconveniencestoresandcafes.Butwhentheydoubledbacktothefestival concert,aloudbeachsidepartyswarmingwithhundredsofpeople,theygaveup. TheyreturnedtoanowhystericalpensiongrandmotherscreamingattheonlyKoreangirlonthetrip.
