Recognise one whole, one half, one quarter and three quarters. ii. Say fractions, parts, one whole, one half, one quarter and three quarters in context. iii. Read fractions, parts, one whole, one half, one quarter and three quarters in context. iv. v. Write , , and in context.

Step 1 (20 minutes)

Teacher explains the concepts of one whole, one half, one quarter and three quarters.

1. Teacher will use an orange as a concrete object. 2. Teacher will cut it into two parts and explain about one half. 3. Teacher will cut again into two more parts to explain the about one quarter and three quarters. 4. Teacher will explain about the concept of fraction through slide show of power point. 5. Teacher introduces term of numerator and denominator. 6. Teacher explains the concept of one whole, one half, one quarter and three quarters 3-D shapes.

Resources : Orange, Knife, Power Point presentation.

Step 2 (20 minutes)

Class activity

1st class activity (5 minutes):

Resource: 1st activity : A4 paper,

1) Teacher explains the steps briefly.

Steps of activity : Student folds their paper into one part, two parts and four parts. Student need to shade the region, to show the value of fraction , , and . Student show their answer and check their answer together.

Pen. 2nd activity : Card of questions, Model of a pie, Model of a rectangle, Model of flower.

2) Teacher provides A4 paper to each pupil. 2nd class activity (15 minutes): 1. Teacher dividing the class into four groups. 2. Teacher provide a picture model of a pie, a rectangle and a model of a flower and paste it on the board. Each picture model has been cut into four equal parts. 3. Steps of activity :

Pupil of each group need to find a representative for each round.

The group representative need to pick up a card from the box provided that

contain different values of fraction. Pupils need to take out parts of pie, parts of rectangle or parts of flower from the picture model on the board to show the value of fraction based on the card that pupil get from the box. Teacher asks the class whether the answer is correct or not. 5 marks will be given for a correct answer. 3 marks will be deducted for a wrong answer. Then, repeat the step for another group. Step 3 (10 minutes) Class practice: Assessment with worksheet Teacher gives the worksheet exercise about fractions. Resource: Worksheet

Conclusion of today lesson

1) Teacher again emphasize concept of fraction.

2) Teacher correct the mistakes that always done by pupils.

For example: These shapes are not divided into halves.

Here, teacher explain these shapes are not divided into halves because both region are not in the same size.

3) Teacher teaches and asks the students to sing a song of fractions based on the lyrics together.
