DATA PROCESSING WORKFLOWS

General Workflow
The general workflow for the processing of NMR data is separated into 7 steps: 1. Quality Control 2. Derivation of NMR properties of fluids 3. Processing of raw NMR data 4. Inversion 5. Hydrocarbon Analysis 6. Interpretation of T2 distributions 7. Modeling of NMR response. An explanation of the principles behind data processing is given at the beginning of each section. Further information on NMR principles can be found in NMR Logging, A Basic Guide.
Note: NMR functions are only available for single well processing (only one well may be open in the Well application).

Data Requirements

Geolog

Specific data is required for a complete processing and interpretation cycle. The availability of data is checked using the appropriate QC Assist option on the Petrophysics > NMR menu. The data checks are based on the NMR QC files that are located in the geolog_home/specs directory. These files list all the data that is required for complete processing and interpretation. See the CMR_Baker_Halliburton_data_eg.txt file in the <geolog install>/doc/examples directory for examples of CMR, Baker-Atlas MRIL C** and Halliburton/Numar data.

Recommended Layouts
Layouts for viewing NMR data at each step can be found at the bottom of the NMR menu in Geologs Well application (see Figure 1). The layouts are organized by tool type and then by processing step.
