An old man traveled down a path To find a drink of water He braved the wind that showed its wrath Every time he fought her The thunder rolled, the lightning flashed As he began to stumble Pellets of rain, like bullets, crashed His hope began to crumble. "A drink of water's all I want!" He cried into the wind His weary face was worn and gaunt As proof of all his sins The storm rolled on for days, or years Time lost all its meaning The sky poured out with all his tears To hell with foolish dreaming Then suddenly a light broke through The birds began to sing The old man held his breath and knew He had finally found the spring He heard a soft, but steady sound A deep and gentle roar Yet when at the spring, he found, He wasn't thirsty anymore.......
