Greetings Dr. Young, We exchanged emails in October when I was attempting to audit a Spanish I course. I wanted to let you know that the system worked and I was indeed able to audit Spanish I with Professor Laura Spence-Newhouse. The purpose of my email is to inform you what a fantastic teacher she was/is. She has a fantastic way of teaching that combines various methods of education. She is particuarly adept at reading her students knowing when they are confused and when they are understanding the material. For someone like myself who normally does not enjoy speaking out in class, especially in a language I don't understand, she made me feel very comfortable and in fact, she made it clear to the student body that she was not accept any ridicule at all. Lastly, having been a UCLA student as well as taken some graduate courses at Claremont Graduate University, I can honestly say that Professor Laura Spence-Newhouse was one of the best instructors I have ever had. She made a course that I was not particularly interested in taking, both fun and exciting. That as you know is not easy to do.
