State Rep. Mike Dovilla Announces Formation of Lake Erie Caucus

Focus on environmental and economic issues involving one of Ohios most important assets COLUMBUS State Representative Mike Dovilla (R-Berea) today announced the launch of the bipartisan and bicameral Lake Erie Caucus. Lake Erie is of vital economic importance to Ohio and, in particular, our region," said Dovilla. "The Lake Erie Caucus will provide a forum that continues work we initiated last summer in the House Policy and Legislative Oversight Committee, which received expert testimony on the subject of Lake Erie from environmental and economic development perspectives. The challenges which face our Great Lake from phosphorus runoff to Asian Carp are issues we must address as legislators to ensure we leave a vibrant lake to our children and grandchildren." The inaugural caucus meeting featured presentations by Dr. Jeffrey Reutter, Director of the Ohio Sea Grant College Program, and Ms. Melinda Huntley, Executive Director of the Ohio Travel Association. The Lake Erie Caucus is jointly-chaired by Representatives Mike Dovilla (R-Berea) and Chris Redfern (D-Catawba Island) and Senators Randy Gardner (R-Bowling Green) and Capri Cafaro (D-Hubbard). -30-
