PDQ TAKE FIVE (BUT WE NEVER PLAY IT!

)
Thursday 6th March 2014
The Philip Dodd Quartet is back, for the fifth yes fifth year running at our all-time favourite jazz venue in Chelsea, London, and possibly the entire world: the 606 Club, which has hosted four wonderful gigs for us, and where so many of our friends have shared an evening of top-class food and socialising with a bit of jazz here and there. A couple of comments from last year: It just keeps getting better and Great relaxed vibe, lovely food, great night. As before we are maintaining the tickets, by invitation only, at 20.00 a head, for which we deliver some excellent food cooked up by the clubs house chef, a free drink on arrival and two full sets of jazz. Also as usual the quartet will be serving up some new material including a wonderful piece by Norwegian pianist Tord Gustavsen and a tribute to the late great Stan Tracey along with some of our favourites: one of them is in 5/4 but its not Take Five! In case the PDQ is new to you, the Quartet Philip on piano, Paul Mason playing tenor, soprano sax and flute, Graham Brough on double bass and Will Awdry at the drum kit first played together as students at Oxford and then reformed in 2006 for a one-off gig that turned into many, many more. Doors will open at 7.30pm, the first set starts at 8.30 approx., with a second set at around 10.00. The 606 Club is at 90 Lots Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0QD do check out their website www.606club.co.uk.
