Ingredients

Split moong dal 1/2 cup (yellow mung) Green chili paste - 2 green chilis OR 1/2 to 1 tsp red chili powder Tomato - 1 large !inely chopped Turmeric powder - 1/" tsp #aggery - 1 tsp Salt to taste $resh coriander !or garnish $or poppu/tad%a/tempering& 'ustard seeds 1/2 tsp (umin seeds 1/2 tsp )sa!oetida - 1/" tsp Ghee or oil - 1 1/2 t*sps

Method
1+ )dd a cup o! water turmeric powder and washed moong dal in a stainless steel ,essel and coo% till the dal turns so!t+ )lternati,ely you can pressure coo% upto 2 whistles+ Once the dal is coo%ed add 1 1/2 cups o! water salt *ring to a *oil and simmer+ -hile the dal is simmering prepare the tad%a+ 2+ .eat ghee or oil in a pan once hot add mustard seeds and allow to splutter+ )dd cumin seeds and once they turn *rown add the asa!oetida and green chili paste and mi/+ )dd the chopped tomatoes and coo% !or " mts till they turn so!t+ 0+ )dd this mi/ture along with 1aggery to the simmering dal and coo% on medium !lame !or another "-2 mts and turn o!! !lame+ "+ Remo,e to a ser,ing *owl and garnish with !resh coriander lea,es+
