Oh what mysteries comprise my love.

I can only wonder

For I study her constantly -

in silent sleep -
amid sighs and shifts

During frantic mornings

between fits and goodbyes

Even on lazy Saturdays

from behind books and beneath blankets.

And I glimpse - just a hint -

of such power and force
that I stand in awe before her.

In utter and complete awe.

How easily she has harnessed

the elemental laws
that keep worlds aligned, suns fixed
that balance seasons, bend time

It is but a fraction of this power

that binds me to her
like blue to sky.

There in a glint of her eyes

resides the ebb and flow of
the tides.

A whisper rustled on her breath

burns the oxygen
from my blood.

A sliver of her smile -

is a lesson in gravity
as something in my chest
strives to soar
in spite of the universe
bearing down on me.
Of course,
it is gravity -

or rather she -

that saves me

reminding my heart
that though it is seeks to soar
it cannot break free.
