. 1.Preventative maintenance Preventative maintenance actions are to be performed for the items that exhibit a well defined deterioration characteristic such as the chance failure increasing with time e.g. Mean Time to Failure; The action will delay, prevent or predict the occurrence of the identified failure mode. Preventive maintenance is intended to be performed either before an item fails, or reaches the point where an unacceptable level of performance has occurred.
