CHAPTER 1 - SANDCASTLE SUMMER 98 Mummy! Look what Ayden did to my sandcastle!

little Rosie cried as she ran to her mother. Oh, honey. Its okay. Dont cry. Ill talk to Aydens mother, okay? Rosies mother, Melanie, said as she hugged her. Rosie sniffed and nodded. Now. Why dont you built another sandcastle while I have a word with her Rosie smiled at her mother and ran back to the beach. Why was Rosie crying? Aydens mother, Clare, asked as Melanie walked over to the picnic table. Apparently, little Ayden, here, ruined her sandcastle. Melanie put her hand on Aydens shoulder and smiled. Ayden gave a sheepish smile in return. Ayden Williams! Why would you do that? Clare asked. I was just playing around Ayden replied with a little voice. You go apologize to Rosie right now, young man! Ayden grunted and walked over to Rosie. Rosalyn Brown was carrying a bucket of seawater to build her sandcastle. Sitting a few feet away from the water was here nanny, Elizabeth. Elizabeth has long brown hair, which had been pulled up into a bun. Elizabeth stood up and helped Rosie pour the water from the bucket. Rosie scooped the damp sand, using a spade, into the bucket. Just as Rosie was about to flip the bucket over, Ayden, who was wearing baby blue bathing trunks, sat beside her. What do you want? Rosie asked. Rosie. Thats not polite of you Elizabeth scolded. I dont care. He ruined my sandcastle, Rosie replied, grumpily. Youre such a baby, Ayden teased. No, Im not. Im 7 years old. Im a big girl Rosie crossed her arms over her chest. Ayden scoffed and rolled his eyes.

Are you here to help Rosie build her sandcastle? Elizabeth asked Ayden. Pffft. No. Mum asked me to apologize to Rosie Ayden replied. Well. Im waiting Rosie said. Im sorry for destroying your sandcastle, Rosie Ayden said quickly and stood up. Hold on. An apology is not enough. You have to help me build this sandcastle, Rosie said. Oh, come on. Do I have to? Ayden groaned, Yes. Now, get me some water Rosie ordered. Youre so bossy Ayden said. Rosie stuck her tongue out in return. I cant believe Im stuck with her all summer, Ayden thought as he walked over to the ocean. Meanwhile Rosie said, Why do I have to spend every summer with Ayden **** Ayden and Rosie are getting along pretty well, dont you think?
