Arrest Made in Breaking and Entering with Assault

The Fredericksburg Police Department arrested Mario Arcos-Gonzalez, 28, of Spotsylvania today
on charges related to four separate cases at Townsend Square Apartments, including burglary with
the intent to commit assault.

At 4:25 am on August 17 in the 1100 block of Townsend Blvd, a juvenile resident reported that she
awoke in bed to find a man over her with his hands covering her mouth. The suspect put his hands
around her neck and started to choke her, but the victim fought her attacker and started shouting for
help. The suspect escaped through the bedroom window, and the victim’s mother ran into the room
after hearing her daughter’s screams. The victim sustained injuries to her face and throat and her
shirt was torn during the assault.

On October 1, another resident of Townsend Square Apartments reported to police that she
observed a male subject looking through the windows of one of her neighbors. The suspicious male
left the area in a blue Ford and the witness obtained the license plate number of the vehicle. From
this information, Arcos-Gonzalez was identified as a possible suspect in the August incident.

The subsequent investigation revealed that Arcos-Gonzalez was responsible for another peeping
tom case at Townsend Square Apartments in July, as well as a report of indecent exposure at the
apartment complex that occurred last night. Mario Arcos-Gonzalez has been charged with felony
burglary with the intent to commit assault, two misdemeanor counts of peeping tom, and one count
of misdemeanor indecent exposure. He is incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no
bond.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding these cases or any other similar
incidents is asked to call the Fredericksburg Police Department at (540)373-3122.
