1 For two consecutive meetings, we were able to have a film showing that heavily tackles on biotechnology. It is a documentary film which consists of the essential parts namely history from the very point of its origin (which revolves around the European and African continent such as Rome, Greece, and Egypt), various (conspiracy) theories, and most especially the news and current events that pertains to this mentioned subject. Biotechnology, as well as all different sorts of technology, aims to provide a significant improvement in the quality of human life. According to Wikipedia, it is the use of living systems and organisms to develop or make useful products. This particular branch of technology deals with modification and is most commonly used in fields such as medicine and agriculture. Its most popular product is the genetically modified organisms in which we will focus on this paper. These genetically modified items such as GM foods, despite this modern time and age, are not widely accepted yet just like in our country. However, there are claims that these types of items that are genetically modified have significant advantages that are truly beneficial to man. For instance, GM foods are packed with an increased amount of nutritional content, improved appearance and taste, decreased dependence of fertilizers, significant production of substances, and the like. These advantages truly help in the betterment of quality of life. While still a lot of people protest in this form of food, continuous research and practice to minimize the potential harm that it may cause to humans. Therefore, genetically modified foods are beneficial and should be implemented in the near future.
