Trees, shrubs, herbs & more The gardens surrounding the house at The Rift comprises approximately 2.

7 hectares and are excellent examples of mature and semi mature exotic trees and shrubs typical of gardens of this maturity in the Southern Highlands. The garden is terraced from west to the east, with brick, wood and sandstone retaining walls providing the structure of the terracing. There are many garden beds filled with an array of perennials, shrubs and bulbs which are very important to the fabric of the garden.
