In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Our documentary follows quite a few of the conventions of Mixed documentaries. Such as a talking head, rule of thirds shot we made sure to use this for our interviews and made sure our Vox Pops where also set in rule of thirds to make them look professional.

Another convention we followed was the use of a voice of god narration this help us give context to the documentary it also helped us to develop the conventions as we keep what was being said in the voice over informal to keep the target audience of teenagers interested in what was being said. we used a rule of thirds shot which is normal for documentaries to use to introduce who is speaking but we developed it so we didn't just have the name one occupation we made it so that it was in the style of where you type a tweet on twitter. We challenged this as the narrators are usually male but we felt that a female voice would be softer to listen to when we are discussing the more delicate issues such as cyber bullying.

One of the main conventions of documentaries are lower this titles as they give the audience information about the person they can see in the shot. Usually they are just very plain we challenged this by making ours in the style of twitter as this is one of the main social networks we talk about in the documentary and we felt that it would be the most visually pleasing for the audience to see. We followed this convention by keeping it on the other side of the screen from the person in the shot.

This is another common convention of documentaries as you can then add what ever you want into the background of the shot. We challenged this by not using one . We use graphics instead like in the Appatized interview as we wanted to hide something in the background since when we where shooting this interview we didnt have any choose on the room we were filming in.
