Explanation
This circuit is co##ecte$ to ac power through J1 the# recti"ie$ to $c through D1-D4. D5 is a 12 olt 3e#er $io$e !ei#g use$ alo#g with the resistor R1 a#$ the coil resista#ce o" relay RL1 to regulate the i#put oltage to 12 olts a#$ C1 is use$ to help smooth this power%

Alter#ati ely a $c oltage o" ' olts or more ca# !e co##ecte$ $irectly to J2 a#$ J3, positi e to J2 a#$ #egati e to J34 i# this setup the circuit woul$ #ot #ee$ J1, D1-D5, a#$ R1%

The relay RL1 is a SP+T ' +c relay a#$ whe# power is applie$ to it, it ope#s the circuit with the L*+s so they are o"" as lo#g as power is o# i" the power goes o"", the relay closes the circuit a#$ the !attery BAT1 powers the L*+s D6, D7, a#$ D8% .# this circuit BAT1 is a 5 olt !attery that powers the ) L*+s through R34 howe er BAT1 ca# !e ma#y $i""ere#t !atteries $epe#$i#g o# your #ee$s% J4 is also a aila!le i# parallel with the L*+s to co##ect a !u33er or etc%
