Persuasive Writing
Aligned with Common Core Writing Standards
This lesson was written for my first graders as we start our focus on writing
opinion/persuasive stories.
Day 1: Pass out an Oreo to each student. Talk about the parts of an
opinion/persuasive writing piece using the Oreo poster provided. We will be
doing a class opinion piece on this day.
Day 2: Laminate super power cards and place on the board. Brainstorm with
the kids why it would be good to have that super power. Students will then
decide which super power they want. Complete the Super Hero Graphic
Organizer.
Day 3: Transfer sentences from the graphic organizer to the Super Hero
Writing Paper.
Have fun!
