Henry and Mudge Win the Race


Henrys school was having a big race to celebrate the end of
the school year. Henry was never much of a runner but as
soon as he heard he decided that he was going to be the winner
of this race! He told Mudge all about his plan of winning the
race as well as their new training schedule to prepare for the
race. Henry and Mudge ran the first day for one minute, the
second day for two minutes, and continued increasing their
time each day. Henry even started a running group with his
classmates during recess for even more practice. He asked his
mom to pack him an energizing lunch each day to make sure he
was ready for his workouts. On the big day, Henry
thought to himself, I can do this. I can do this.
Mudge was so proud of Henry when he saw Henry
cross the finish line first. Over the loud
speaker the announcer said,
The gold medal goes to HENRY!

Henry demonstrated the character trait of determination. We are going to


find the details that demonstrate that trait and complete the chart.
