COURSE INTRODUCTION
Text book : Reading 2, Agus Riyanto,dkk, Universitas Terbuka 2010 Tutorial module consists of 12 parts but will be cover in 8 classes.
Class 1 : Module 1 Scanning for Specific Information. Class 2 : Module 2 & 3 Reading for the Gist and Reading for Detailed Information. Class 3 : Module 4 Skimming. Class 4 : Review and Exercise. Class 5 : Module 5 Previewing and Predicting. Class 6 : Module 6 Synonym & Antonym, Hyponym and English Affixes. Class 7 : Module 7 & 8 Understanding Written Conversation and Main Ideas and Topic of Paragraphs. Class 8 : Module 9 Previewing, Scanning and Skimming.

OBJECTIVE
In this module you will: 1. Expand your vocabulary, a lot :D 2. Be able to mention antonym and synonym of a word 3. Classifying words

4. Mention and explain English affixes.


5. Still, expanding your vocab, again :D

SYNONYM & ANTONYM


To identify it, you have to: Think about the context of the passage Understand that the synonym/antonym not always one word

HYPONYM & HYPERNYM


Hyponym : word that refers to a group of more specific words. Hypernym : word that refers to a group of more common words.

ENGLISH AFFIXES
Affix in Indonesian is Imbuhan. Grouped as Prefix and suffix. They make a slightly different meaning from the original word, or even a whole new word.

Prefix First, please understand and remember the meaning of each prefix (Excersice 1 and Table 3.1)

Figure the meaning of each prefix by guessing. First, by understanding the meaning of the passage.

Again, to know each of the suffix meaning, try to guess it by understanding the passage meaning.

Combining forms In Indonesian, this is called Kata Serapan Pay a very close attention to Table 3.3
