Thank You for supporting the Book Fair!

Sales-wise this was the most successful Scholastic Book Fair in our school for years-over $500 higher sales than the 2012/13 year fair. Once again, I had good 5th grade helpers. Several people took advantage of the on-line sales option. Even the copies of the one backordered title are on schedule to arrive this week. Book Fair profit bought over 30 hard cover books which are being processed right now. In addition, the Book Fair profit bought 37 paperback books which won't be processed until I have had time to cover them with protective film. Thanks to all who braved the bitter temperatures that week to come and support our school.

School Nurse News Important Immunization Record Changes!

The State Department of Health has restricted who can log onto the State Immunization Registry. As a parent you need to be aware that school nurses will no longer be able to look up immunization records in order to up-date school immunization records. Parents will have to supply all immunization records to the school to comply with state requirements. All kindergarten students, 7th grade students, and students new to the School District will be responsible to provide a current and up-to-date immunization record to the school within 30 days of the first day of school or within 30 days of the date of enrollment. The notice that was published by the State Department of Health states, "To ensure the Wyoming Department of Health is aligning with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Omnibus Rule.....No student record shall be accessed in the WyIR by a School Nurse..." Please be aware that this new regulation will severely restrict my ability to help you as a parent get immunization records that you may not have. Immunization records are important legal documents that all parents should have a copy of in their possession. If you do not have your child's shot record in a place where you know where it is, it might be a good idea to get that information now! Please call me at school if you have questions about this new restriction. Thank you! Mrs. Bower, RN, MSN
