Guide To Prayer For Lent
and blessed! Now as I come to the setting of the sun, and my eyes behold the evening light, I sing your praises, O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You are worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices, your glory fills the whole world. (This hymn dates to the late 3rd - early 4th Century.) Prayer of Confession Almighty God, I confess that I am often swept up in the tide of my generation. I fail in my calling to be holy, set apart for your divine purpose. I live more in apathy born of fatalism than in passion born of hope. I dream more of privilege and benefits than of service and sacrifice. I try to speak your name without relinquishing my glory, without nourishing my soul, and without relying wholly on your grace. Help me make room in my heart and life for you. Forgive me, revive me, and reshape me in your image. Amen. (Spend time reflecting on your own struggles and failures through the day, giving thanks for Gods mercy, grace, and forgiveness that are yours in Christ.) Pray the Lords Prayer
Midday Prayers God of mercy, this midday moment of rest is your welcome gift. Bless the work I have begun, make good its defects, and let me finish it in a way that pleases you. Grant this through Christ, my Lord. Amen. Prayer of Intercession (Lift the needs of others and yourself to God in prayer. The weekly bulletin insert is an excellent resource for this.) Pray the Lords Prayer
Prayer at Mealtimes The Wesley Grace May be sung to the tune Old 100th (The Doxology) Be present at our table, Lord. Be here and everywhere adored. These mercies bless and grant that we may feast in fellowship with thee. Amen.
