Change your Mornings with Prayer

Traditional Catholic Prayers as you begin each new day

Introduction

As you wake up every morning, consider giving ten minutes to God, our heavenly
Father. Here is a simple booklet which will help you get started with the practice
of reciting Morning Prayers.

When you start your day with prayer, your life will change for the better. Prayer
is the key to God's heart.

There are two types of prayer, mental and vocal. Mental prayer is meditation on
spiritual truths. Vocal prayer consists of repeating set words.

As a new day unfolds, we begin to glorify and praise God, give thanks for all his
blessings, and also bring our needs to our loving God using the beloved prayers
in this booklet.

 Well begun is half done. When you take

some time to pray to God in the morning,
your entire day will be transformed.
 If you are new to reciting prayers in the
morning, allow yourself plenty of time and
grace to make it a habit.
May the good Lord bless you and protect you!

Morning Offering Prayer

Let us begin each new day offering ourselves completely to  Almighty God. Let
us make a mental note to gracefully accept all the sufferings He shall send us
this day.

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer thee all my prayers,

works, joys and sufferings of this day, for all the intentions of Thy Sacred Heart,
in union with the holy sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation
for my sins, for the needs of all my family and friends, and in particular, for the
intentions of the Holy Father. I wish to gain all the indulgences attached to the
prayers I shall say and to the good works I shall do this day. Amen.

The Three Hail Marys

The practice of praying The  Three Hail Marys  was revealed to  St.
Melchtilde with the promise of a  good death, if she was faithful to it every
day. It is a traditional Roman Catholic devotional practice to recite 3 Hail Marys
in the morning as petition for  purity and other  virtues.

While Saint Gertrude the Great  sang the Hail Mary, at the Matins of the
Annunciation, she suddenly saw spring out from the  Father and the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, three bright flames which penetrated the Heart of the Holy
Virgin. Then she heard the following words: "After the Power of the Father, The
Wisdom of the Son and the merciful Tenderness of the Holy Spirit, nothing
approaches the Power, Wisdom and the merciful Tenderness of Mary."

This beautiful devotion has been a part of my daily Morning Prayer. I pray 3

Hail Marys for myself. Then I go onto pray 3 Hail Marys for my each of my family
members.

It is also recommended to pray 3 Hail Marys before going to bed, following the
examination of Conscience.  Train your children to acquire the habit of saying
three Hail Marys in the morning and evening.

Here is a suggested way to recite 3 Hail Marys:

O Mary, by thy pure and Immaculate Conception, make my body pure
and my soul holy.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us
sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

O my Mother, preserve me this day from mortal sin.

and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us
sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

O my Mother, preserve me this day from mortal sin.

A Prayer for Grace

Each new day, ask God to give you the graces needed to fulfill the duties of your
state of life. Trust in Jesus and he will remove all your fears and anxieties.

O my God, remember that moment when, for the first time, Thou didst pour Thy
grace into my soul, washing me from Original Sin, that Thou might receive me
into the number of Thy children. O God, Thou Who art my Father, grant me in
Thine infinite mercy, through the merits and Blood of Jesus Christ, and through
the sorrows of the holy Virgin Mary, the graces which Thou dost desire that I
should receive this day for Thy greater glory and my salvation.

O Heart of Love, I place all my trust in Thee, for though I fear all things from
my own weakness, I hope all things from Thy goodness.

O purest heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, obtain for me from Jesus a pure
and humble heart. Amen.

Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.

Body of Christ, save me.

Blood of Christ, inebriate me.

Water from Christ's side, wash me.

Passion of Christ, strengthen me.

O good Jesus, hear me.

Within Thy wounds hide me.

Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.

From the malicious enemy defend me.

In the hour of my death call me.

And bid me come unto Thee,

That, with Thy saints, I may praise Thee

Forever and ever. Amen

Prayer to St. Joseph for a Happy Death

O Blessed St. Joseph, who gave up thy last breath in the arms of Jesus and
Mary, obtain for me, I beseech thee, the grace of a happy death. Defend me from
all evil, especially in my final hour. Assist me by thy presence, protect me by thy
power, and obtain for me this grace, O holy St. Joseph, that I may breathe forth
my soul in praise, saying in spirit, if so I am unable to do so in words: Jesus, Mary
and Joseph, I give thee my heart and life. Amen.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I give thee my heart and soul.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, assist me in my last agony.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, may I breathe forth my soul in  peace
with thee. Amen
