Lesson: Shape Comparisons

Unit: 4.10 Materials: Smartboard Lesson

Date: Jan. 16th

Key Lesson Points: Review previous activity, and then have students make a triangle with their bodies. After the first group makes their triangle, have a second group make a different triangle. If students struggle, ask them if they can make the length of the sides different, or the angles/corners (if they do not get stuck, discuss after they finish creating their shape. Show students a triangle (on Smartboard), and then rotate it. Ask students if it is still a triangle. Why or why not? Show students 2 triangles. Ask, Are they both triangles? Why or why not? How are they the same? How are they different? Repeat with a square, then a rectangle (rotate) and then compare the two shapes. Student Activities/Centers: N/A
