Lesson: Introduction to Attribute Blocks

Unit: 4.13

Date: January 23rd

Materials: Attribute Blocks (have some on the tablesset-up while students are at the Computer Lab/Recess) Key Lesson Points: Play the Shape Song as students come in from recess Once students are settled, have them move into a circle and place some shape blocks in the middle of the carpet. Ask students how can we sort these. Have one student sort them. Ask students why each group belongs together. Then ask, can we sort these blocks in different ways? Give students the opportunity to sit in small groups and sort the blocks, walk around and ask students how they are sorting their blocks. Have a small discussion with each group.

Student Activities/Centers: Meet with teacher and do above activity Puzzles Worksheet/Game

Other Information: If we have time, have each group describe one way they sorted the blocks.
