Stevedoring in Rauma, Finland At exactly 0830 H on March 11, 2013 at the port of Rauma, Finland we commenced the loading

operation. But 45 minutes before the said time, the ship agent first arrived followed by the stevedoring gang and after the cargo surveyor and as the gangway watch, I ask for identification cards and wrote their names in the I.S.P.S. visitors log book. The cargo to be loaded was two piece of 70 ton bow thruster for offshore vessel. At 0800 H, the ships crew opened the forward and aft hatch covers and the two AB prepared the crane numbers 1 and 2 with the help of the ordinary seaman and other deck cadet. As per chief officers order the ships crew together with the help of the stevedores prepared the big dunnages for the two heavy cargoes inside the cargo hold. Since the cargo was heavy, it needs to be the ships crew to drive the crane for the loading of the bow thrusters. At exactly 0830, the cargo loading operation commenced. The cargo slings was picked up by the two crane drivers to be used for the lifting of the cargoes. The chief officer then ordered the two crane drivers to pick up the cargo and hook up slowly. As the cargo was slowly brought down to the cargo hold, the stevedores assisted the cargo to be placed in the exact position for the ships stability to be neutral. The same procedure was did for the second cargo. After it, the welders arrived and did the welding of the H-beams and instead of the stevedores, the ships crew were the ones who lashed the cargoes. After lashing the cargoes, cargo operation was completed. We secured everything and closed the hatch covers and we also secured the cranes. The ship agent finished every document needed to be done and then after it they gave us our pilot boarding time and departure.
