EC Week 26 UISG EC Division

Whats been happening? We ended our UOI on transportation last week. For our summative assessment, children individually drew their own community map, describing the various transport used for specific purposes. This is our transition week to our new UOI on living things. We had quite a few children absent last week so we will finish the summative assessments with them while the children start to explore the central idea through trying to define what a living thing means. We will have related games and books for the children to explore. We would also appreciate if you send your childs baby photos so that we could discuss changes and stages of growth. We will return all the photos after we finish our UOI. A field trip to the Guangzhou Zoo is in planning. We will again need help from parents soon. The date of this field trip will be confirmed this week. Reminders: Children with no hats have to stay on the veranda at play time, so please help your child send his/her hat back to school. Library books and Home readers need to be returned in order for a new book to be chosen. Thank you for your cooperation! UOI Information Transdisciplinary Theme: How The World Works Central Idea: All living things go through a process of change. Key concepts: Causation, change, form Related concepts: Animals, plants, growth Lines of inquiry -Living vs Non-living things -Exploring different lifecycles -Basic needs between people, animals and plants

Something you should know

Pre-school Art The process of creating craft projects is always more important than the end result. If your child does succeed at completing the project correctly, consider this a bonus. Never let your children feel that there is a right or wrong way to express themselves through their preschool craft activities. I find that often our results are far from the pictureperfect crafts depicted in most craft books.
