The College History:


Ministerial decision issued for establishing the Faculty of Engineering at
Zagazig University in November 1976 and the study began in 1978.
The college is located in a distinguished place directly on the right of the
main entrance of the university and it includes six main buildings and three
metal hangars and the area of each one is 1800 m dedicated to the
laboratories of Irrigation, Hydraulics, drainage and environment which
represent the biggest and the best labs in this specialty in the level of the
Middle East.

Mission of the college:


Because the college is a comprehensive educational institution so that the
primary purpose of its establishment is to move forward to what is beyond
engineering knowledge boundaries, so the overall Mission is:

Presenting the necessary distinguished education to prepare a


distinct engineers to compete at the local and regional level
Providing different patterns of education and training inside and
outside the college, including the use of information technology
Providing its educational experiences of the international quality for
undergraduate students through a diverse learning environment,
improving the values and the institutional democratic which
contributes to prepare students to lead life with personal credibility
and responsibility in a regional and local community.

Strategic objectives:

A word of Prof.Dr./ Dean of the college:


After knowing that the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Zagazig
established since more than a quarter of a century it was natural that its
permanent development includes sector of Graduate Studies and Research
therefore the regulations of Graduate Studies and Research of the college
have been developed twice up to the present Regulations of the College.
Although the College has currently thirteen scientific departments but it did
not all arise with the beginnings of the college, but many of it have been
originated successively with the development of the college, its regulations
and increasing its age, ability, bid and giving. Thus some of these
departments, the graduate programs did not start in it since only recently.

The department of Architecture was its newest and it does not offer
graduate programs so far in order to focus firstly in the undergraduate
stage (bachelor's degree) and complete its structure and the specialties of
the faculty members in it. The total number of Masters and PhDs thesis
which are granted at the college so far in the past five years is (98) in
addition to diplomas, as the college believes of the necessary of the
integration of the scientific efforts between scholars and researchers in
different universities, today we published this directory that contains the
topics of the granted master's and PhDs during those past five years with
adequate summaries of it, we proudly put it in the hands of the researchers
to benefit from it and communicate with it in order to become perfected
and promote the level of the scientific research in our beloved Egypt.

Graduates Management:
Graduates administration interested in providing the following services to a
college graduates:
1 - Communicates with the college graduates, receives their proposals and
present it to the college administration. The college will establish an
assembly of the College of Engineering graduates to support this
communication and provide its services to the graduates through it.
2 - Provide the companies, factories and work authorities with the names of
the graduates to manage suitable f jobs or them.
3 - Finishing the procedures of issuing success data for graduates.
4 - Finishing the procedures of issuing statements of ordering the graduates
by the cumulative grade of all of them.
5 - Finishing the procedures of issuing temporary certifications for the
graduates.
6 The administration maintains that the jobs opportunities of the applying
graduates for a job outside the country will not be lost by making sure of
their data correctness to reply on the authorities that asking for the graduate

Objectives of the student activities:

Student Union

Student Union is the main legitimate channel through which you can
express your opinion and your demands thus it is your legitimate
representative so keep to positive participation and do not be negative for
choosing the best serious student groups.
The conditions that should be fulfilled by those who apply for membership
of the Union committees:
1. He must be Egyptian.
2. He must have true moral character and good reputation.
3. He must be a new regular student.
4. He must pay for the Union fees.
5. He must have one of the marked activities in the field of the Committee
work in which he nominates himself.
6. He should not have been convicted of a restricted freedom penalty or a
fail report or suspend the membership of one of the student unions or its
committees.

When you fit for the nominations conditions you must follow the following:

1. You should apply to the youth care administration at the faculty to receive
the nomination request and questionnaire form.
2. After fulfilling all the data, you should give it back to the youth care
administration at the faculty according to the announcing dates at the
college.
3. The college will review these forms and those who fulfilled the conditions
will be accepted and anyone whose contrary to the nomination conditions.
4. Statements will announce the names of candidates who fulfilled the
conditions and if you didnt find your name although you fulfilled all the
conditions, you must present an application to the appeal committee at the
college with presenting all the documents that supported your position.
5. Any excluded student from nomination has the right to present to the
appeals committee at the university which will study the request and
consider his registration if the conditions of nomination are fulfilled.
6. The final names will be announced according to what is mentioned at the
elections schedule and no student has the right to appeal after the
announcement of the final statements.
7. The elections and its results will be announces at the exact dates.
8. The elections of the University Student Union Council which consists of
the secretaries and assistant secretaries of the colleges at the University
Union location will be held.

Cultural activity
Culture is not a luxury but a necessity in a society that seeks to build
itself and it is the pillar of a comprehensive development in all fields so the
cultural development of the students is extremely important in light of the
era of information and communication revolution that we are living now.
The most important cultural fields are the following:
1. Literary competitions (poetry - verse - story - an article).
2. Scientific and religious researches.

How to share in a cultural activity:


Go to the activity specialist at the college and show your talents and
abilities at any of the previous cultural fields.
The specialist registers your personal data, personal photo and a copy of
your ID card in the activity forms.

Sports activity:
One of the most important student activities that you can participate in it to
develop your physical and mental abilities to fill the leisure time and it is

How to participate in the sports activity:
1. The College announces at the beginning of the new academic year for the
sports activity.
2. The student applies to the sports specialist and registers his name,
personal data and personal picture and a copy of the ID card.

domestic tournament which is organized by the sports activity administration

Social activity, trips and camps


Social life in the college community has something special and when the
harmony and communication between the college family members,
professors, students and staff become the dominant feature thereby we have
succeeded in deepening values of love, loyalty, belonging, brotherhood and
charity work in the hearts and minds of the college youth through beneficial
social activities and programs to the community.
This is achieved through:

1 - Social activities:
It is about establishing chess competitions at the college level and choosing
the best elements that represents the college in the internal tournament of the
University.
Make the ideal male and female student competitions at the college level.
Announcing about training courses and small projects, first aid and nursing
and deal with accidents and emergencies.
2 - Social Researches:
It is about writing social researches about the current events and problems
at the college and university level.
3 - Social Solidarity Fund:
Aims to:
achieve social solidarity for students differently from insurance and social
care.
contribute to the implementation of the student services.
working on solving the problems that facing students and prevent them
from continuing their studies because of the fiscal deficit.

If you are interested in making financial help from the Social Solidarity
Fund for college you must follow the following:
Apply to the Youth Care Office at the college to take a letter to the social
unit of your residence.
Bring Social Research with a copy of the ID card of your father or a death
certificate if the father is deceased.
An interview with the social specialist of your college.
Social researches are sorted and studied by the social specialist and he
refers it to the administration Board of the Fund.
The researches are written in prepared forms for that.
After the approval of Prof. Dr. / Vice Dean for Education and Student
Affairs and chairman of Fund Management, the financial exchange will be
directly from the treasury of the college.
4 - Camps and trips Activities
The college make recreational trips to Cairo and Alexandria throughout the
academic year.
The college nominated the students to camps of preparing leaders in
Helwan, El-Arish, Port Said and Alexandria.
The college nominated the students to recreational camps to the city of
Alexandria.

Artistic activity
Is one of the distinct activities that is looking for artistic talents in
different artistic fields such as:
(Theater plastic Arts - individual talents in art playing - individual
singing - group singing - Folk Arts)
In order to refine their artistic talents, develop their awareness and bring
them to the art scene at the Republic level through festivals, art
competitions, whether local or national considering that art is an important
cultural result in the history of peoples.

The student Communities Activity


The student communities activity aims to encourage students on
the community life inside the college and create a community spirit
among the students and reinforce the relationships among students, the
faculty members and the supervisors as well as invest the students
energy through practicing many useful activities.
The conditions and procedures of the student communities
registration:
The registration of the student communities will be start with the
beginning of the new academic year until the end of November.
The student communities are committed to register in accordance with
the prepared form of the Department of the student communities
administration
The students who wish to register should present a list of the members
names from different years of the college as the student number will not
be less than 50 students and no more than 100 students.
The group chooses special name for it.
The approval of one of the faculty members on the leadership of the
group.
The approval of one of the faculty members or their assistants to
supervise on the group.
The group presents the activity plan (schedule) during the academic
year and to be committed to its implementation.
The organizational structure of the group will be formed (the
administration council) as follows:

reporter).
Approval of both the community committee pioneer and the youth
pioneer to register the community group.
The registration form is delivered to the Youth Care Office at the
college and the group does not have the right to practice its activity only
after sending a copy of the form to the Department of the students groups
at the general administration of Youth Care at the university.
The distinguished group renewed in the activity each year.
The student is not able to be a reporter or a member only in one group.
The faculty member is not able to be a pioneer or a supervisor only in
one group.
No group can belong to any political party.
The group is committed not to put any banners or advertising about its
activity only after the approval of its pioneer and the youth care at the
college.
In case of not adherence to these instructions therefore the group will
be disband then the administration of the student communities at the
university will be notified.
In the case of making a trip, the form will be approved from the pioneer
and the youth care at the college to appoint a supervisor from the Youth
Care.

Part III
Study and exams
First: Study
Article (4):
The study at bachelor's degree consists of five study years starts with prep
year and every year consists of two semesters, the study at prep year is
general for all students and the transferred students will be distributed to the
first year on the engineering specialization according to Article (3) and the
transferred students will be distributed to the third year on the divisions
specialization from each engineering specialization according to Article (3).
In all cases, distribution is happening in accordance with the specific rules
established by the College Board.

Article (5):
The first attached shows the study programs for each specialization of the
study ones at the bachelor's degree that is described in Article (2) for each
year of the study years and this classification includes the number of hours
that are allocated per week for lectures, exercise, laboratories and the hours
of the written part of the final examination and the grades distribution
between written and practical exams (or oral) and the semester work for
each course.
The second attached show the scientific contents of the bachelor's degree
courses. The oral and the practical examination are adhering to the written
exam, so the failed student in the course must re-exam the oral and practical
exams of the course, if any.

For the scientific departments within its scientific specializations and the
approval of the College Board as follows:
- Switch some courses of the first and second semesters with each in a way
that does not affect the total of the weekly study hours coordination with the
other related scientific departments.
- Making non-substantive amendments at the scientific content of some
courses.

Secondly: presence the course


Article (7):
The student is forbidden by the decision of the College Board from entering
the final exam of the course (written + practical / oral) if his percentage of
attendance is less than 75% of the settled number of times and student is
considered in this case failed in the course unless he make an excuse that
will be accepted by the College Board on the final exam of the course.

Thirdly: Summer training and scientific journey:


Article (8):
The registered students at prep, second and third years are committed to
make summer training (inside the college for the prep year and outside for
the second and third years) after the end of the second semester and for
continuous four weeks under the supervision of the relevant scientific
departments. And the performance of the student in the training is evaluated
after the end of his term with an oral exam to determine if the student
succeeded in the training or not and his failure does not affect on his
transition to the next year or on his success degree as his success in it is
considered one of the graduation requirements.

The scientific departments organize under the supervision of some faculty


members a scientific journey for the final year students during the mid-year
holiday according to a program that is established by the College Board
according to the proposals of the scientific departments which educate the
student more on the technological developments in his field of study. And
the university will fund this entire journey.
Fourthly: The graduation degree of success and failure
Article (10):
(A) The student exam results in any course and in general (the cumulative at
the graduation) is estimated as follows:
The graduation degree of success:
Excellent 85% or more
Very good 75% to less than 85%
Good 65% to less than 75%
Acceptable 50% to less than 65%
The graduation degree of failure:
Weak 30% to less than 50%
Very weak less than 30% (or deprived)
(B) The success degree of the student in any course that he is already failed
in it before will not transfer to acceptable without an acceptable excuse
from the College Board a maximum of 64%.
(C) The degrees of the semester and the degrees of the oral and practical
examination will not be added for the student who receives less than 30% in
the written examination (the courses that have written examination). The
same way in the courses that doesnt have semester degrees for the student
who receives less than 30% in the oral and the practical examination. In both
cases, the student will be failed in course with a "very weak" degree.

Fifthly: transformation and failure:

(A) The student is transferred to his next study year if he succeeded in all the
courses that he is registered in it or failed in not more than two courses of all
the courses in his year including his previous years and the absent with an
excuse or without one, but the humanities courses are not included these two
courses. The humanities courses will not be included within the failure
courses only that it is considered as one of the second round courses and its
degree will added to the total degrees of the year. The student has the right
to improve the semester degree in the second round courses maximum 50%
and his last degree semester that he received will not be counted in those
courses.

(B) The student who enters the exam of any course from abroad will count
his written and practical degrees and or his last semester degrees that he
received will be added for him before his exam from abroad then he will
enter a complementary exam that starts at the first Saturday of next October
of the second semester.
(C) The students of the final year who fail in no more than two courses of
the courses of this year including the absent with or without an excuse then
section (b) will be applied.
(D) The humanities courses are included theses courses if the student re
failed in any course in October exams, he must take the examination in its
semester and the two section (A) (B) will be applied.
(F) If the student of the final year failed in the "project" course will stay for
repetition then he will not has the right to enter October exams in any other
course including the humanities courses.

The fourth Part:

The application of the Regulation


Article (12):
(A) This regulation and its study programs (1) shall be applied to all the
registered students at prep and first year as well as the next study year till its
official published date and the application is graded till it pervade all the
study years.
(B) The necessary procedures are taken in case of the students who will re
study the courses and the failed ones at all study years that the regulation is
applied at it.
(C) The current regulation will be continue to apply at the students of the
second, third and fourth year till their graduation

The fifth Part:


The General Rules:
Article (13):
The rules of law (49) of 1972 which have been organized by the Egyptian
universities, its implementing regulation, their amended laws and the
relevant ministerial decisions are applied in any case that does not have text
in this regulation.
