The growing market has attracted foreign investors and India has been portaged as an important investment destination for the global retail chains. This is evident from the fact that India has received requests from many important trading partners such as US, Japan, China, EU, Singapore, Brazil and Korea in the Doha round of WTO negotiations to allow FDI in retailing.
