Granola Bars

A power packed breakfast bar that can be taken to school.

Ingredients 3/4 cup crushed cornflakes 3/4 cup quick rolled oats 1/2 cup mixed nuts (almonds, pistachios, walnuts, cashewnuts , chopped 2 tablespoons melon seeds (charma!a" 1 tablespoon sultanas 1 cup su!ar oil to !rease Method 1. #i!htl$ roast the oats, nuts and melon seeds and keep aside to cool. 2. %hen cooled, mix to!ether the cornflakes, toasted oats, melon seeds, nuts and sultanas. 3. &n a hea'$ bottomed pan, add the su!ar and melt it o'er !entle heat, stirrin! continuousl$ till the su!ar is li!ht brown in colour (caramelised . 4. (emo'e from the fire, add the rest of the in!redients and mix well. ). *our this mixture onto a !reased marble or stone surface. +. ,sin! a lar!e !reased rollin! pin, roll it out li!htl$ to form a square approximatel$ 2-- mm. x 2-- mm. (./ x ./ . 0. %hile it is still warm, cut out rectan!ular bars of 2) mm. x 1-- mm. (1/ x 4/ . .. 1tore in an air2ti!ht container. Handy tip(s) : 1. Sugar burns very quickly, so give it your full attention. 2. Grease your hands, the marble top and the rolling pin generously with oil. 3. his will prevent the bars from sticking and also prevent your hands from getting burnt. !. "emove the sugar from the flame #ust when it starts to caramelise because it continues to brown even after it is removed from heat.
