FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

I have read that this is a Baleno. Is this a modified Baleno? No absolutely not, this car is a new car. It is built on a completely different platform. As you can seen all the components are different, right from the body, to the steering system to the suspension system and even the engine. It is actually built on a 5 seater SUV platform.

A.

FAQ

Is this the same Baleno 1.6 engine? No the engine is completely different. Infact the engines are not even from the same family. The Baleno engine was from the G series, the SX4 engine is a M series engine. The engine are completely different as can be seen in the following specs.

FAQ

I have that this car is a hatch back? This car is not a hatchback. This platform does have many variants infact there is also a 4 wheel drive SUV and also a world rally championship (WRC) Variants on the same platform are very much the common today and benefits the customer by increased quality and better value for money.

A.

FAQ

Where all is this car sold? Is it an international model? This car is an international model and is one of the latest in the Suzuki line up. It is very very new and India is only the 2nd country to get it. The USA and many countries in Europe will shortly be getting it too.

A.

FAQ

Baleno did not do well? MUL cannot sell higher end cars? This was said of MUL when Swift was launched but customers have shown otherwise. Baleno did not start well but picked up later. The SX4 is bound to do well and is a continuation of the new product lineup story from MUL that started with the Swift, Zen Estilo and Swift Diesel.

A.

FAQ

With all the features on this car will not the parts be expensive? Not at all Maruti Suzuki cars are know for not just low priced spares but also low overall running costs. The SX4 is the same and has very competitively priced spares.

A.

FAQ

Is there a diesel version to come? Why no diesel version? Right now the SX4 is available with this engine and as of now there are no plans for a diesel version.

A.

FAQ

Why is there no hydraulic steering system? Why does Esteem not use EPS? EPS is an emerging technology and was best suited to small cars. MUL was the first to give it to Indian customers. The technology has developed and more and more large cars are using EPS. The SX4 being a new car thus has EPS. Honda too gave EPS on the new City after using hydraulic system on the old City. The Esteem uses hydraulic system as refitting an EPS would incur more costs and the Esteem price would thus rise.
