Opportunities
The opportunity this group have in the telecom industries, they are of the opinion that as the practice of newspaper reading is declining so they are searching attractive opportunities in telemedia sector.

The major mean that is used for the distribution of the paper is road transport.

While answering the question about the promotion of the paper, one of the employees of marketing department answered us that we need no promotions because our credibility and our papers themselves are our promotions. Our papers circulation share is one of the key elements in our promotion, the more the circulation of the papers, the more the promotion.

Hawkers are the most frequent way of selling the product. As they provide daily delivery at the door step. Hawkers keep their own commission as well which helps them in earning their living. There is a Hawkers Union as well which deals with the rights and demands of the hawkers and their fulfillment. Review
Jang group of news paper started their business long before Pakistan came into being under the leadership of Mir Khalil ur Rehman. At the moment after almost 70 years of operations and

circulation it has got the major circulation share of the entire newspaper industry. The major strength is that they are the most ancient group besides they have maintained and improved the quality of paper and the reliability of news in great deal. The major competitor in their industry are the daily Express and daily Nawae waqat. But still it is the majority share holder they find some problems in their urdu printing press and they see it as the major weakness besides they see the telemedia as a major and most profitable opportunity in their business. This group has successfully segmented their market on the geographic, demographic, psychographic and behavioral basis as well, and they have targeted these segments with a well balanced and highly profitable business profile. Business planning is done on their top level which means that they follow a traditional culture for creativity and expansion of their business. The lower level employees are not that motivated and encouraged to take the initiative or bring in new ideas for the betterment and improvement. They have a number of different papers and magazines in their profile to target the different segments of their customers like they have Mag weekly for the fashion oriented people etc. they are of the opinion that their papers are their best promoters and they no need of extensive promotion. As news is needed in almost every city and village of the country so they do the intensive distribution for the distribution purpose they have hawkers and the agencies who buy the papers and then distribute then throughout the country, and sales are on greater basis cause of the wide range of the demand and the highest credibility of this paper.

Feedback of customer The major feedback is from the customer who published their material in the paper or magazine, this type of feedback is taken on line and is catered there too. The overall feedback of the general customer is very good about their work because the customer gets reliable and true news and picture of the current affairs. And it is the positive response of the customer who award this group with the highest share of the entire industry.

Reasons for success Credibility Highest circulation share Being balanced and unbiased paper Expert and experienced human resource

Lesson Learned

Samiya Kazmi
As an observer and a critical visitor to the Head Office of Jang Groups Rawalpindi I learnt after viewing the regular environment that the workers provided an ease to the visitors so they might feel comfortable and spread a positive word of mouth regarding the organization. The information that was provided to us was really helpful and I personally got really impressed from both Mrs Rubina Shaheen and Mr Ehtisham. Mrs Shaheen provided us with all editorial and newspaper related information where as Mr. Ehtisham was a great help in letting us being aware of the marketing sector and the classified department of Jang groups. The foremost that I learnt from there was that the companys long term credibility leads to h igher sales and profitability.

Wajiha Asad
Jang Group of Newspaper provides solid grounded news to their readers made them aware and well informed about their surrounding and provide balanced and unbiased news to their readers. They have achieved economies of scales in the business due to their high readership. Although this organization is well known and well establish leading organization of Pakistan but many of the thing have to be change. Their old assembling system, paper quality, & printing quality

should be improved and they should bring innovation in their projects. New technologies should to installed and remove old aged machinery.

Ramsha Mumtaz
After visiting JANG group of newspaper I have learned that it is very easy to get a newspaper daily at a cheaper rate and make ourselves aware of the world around us but we never think much about the process it went through, a number of employees working day and night on their different tasks to make the newspaper remain successful and sustain its brand image. The Workers that are working in the printing press are doing a tough job because they are facing a lot of noise pollution during the newspaper printing as well as they are working with toxic paints in printing that is harmful for their health. The organization culture of JANG is not much strong. Each employee only knows his job and his work without having any knowledge about performing other tasks. The innovation that a newspaper company should have is comparatively less.

Syed Waqas Shah

The organizational tour of Jang group was a new experience for me . It allowed me to get an insight of the organizational culture and their operations. The major and the most astonishing thing for me was that though we live in such a trendy and rapidly changing era these organization still work and follow the traditional ways of management. It allowed me to get the knowhow of the printing of news paper and how a news is gathered analyzed, phrased and then proof read and then is published.

Wajiha Maqsood
We visited Jang news & The News office. We were 6 group members working on single project. We had meeting with their employees i.e. editors, reporters, marketing department employees & other workers. They all are good in their fields. We have seen their whole Rawalpindi office. We saw their press from where news paper comes out in shape from machines. I saw their press machinery, all of their raw materials used in newspapers. Their machinery is not updated. Their paper quality is not as good as their competitors. Their organization is very vast and they have many offices in Pakistan. Their environment is stable because nobody is interested in any sort of changes & their culture is very weak .employees have least interaction with each others. They sell their paper in cheap rates to hawkers & distributers. There is no hustle bustle in their office.

Employees do their own work & nobody interfere in others work. Their employees are capable in their fields. They have feedback box but they dont check that. Overall it was a learning trip & their office environment is satisfactory.

Muhammad Hamad
The project on the Jang group of newspaper opened the doors of new experience and information. It was of great surprise to me when I came to know that this organization is still managed and operated through traditional ways and rules of management. The visit to the printing press was a new experience and came to know about all the information about the production process. On the other hand this project allowed me to apply the information of marketing management to the organization.
