Our vision is of the University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle Campus, as a vibrant and exciting place to study with a bustling student life and an atmosphere conducive to excellence in academic pursuits, extracurricular activities and service to the wider community. In this, the 25th year of the university, recognising the achievements and challenges of the past, planning for the future and making the most of the present have special significance, and we plan to capitalise on this.

2014 Strategic Vision

Academic
The University of Notre Dame Australia established an excellent reputation by creating an effective learning environment for its students. Building on this, the Student Association is particularly focused on supporting students academically. The Association is dedicated to providing all the tools necessary for every student to achieve their academic potential, along with facilitating programs to enrich their learning experience. Increase the number of participants in the Mentor Program by 25% (January 2015) Create a Student Textbook Exchange (June 2014) Explore including extra-curricular and volunteering work on student transcripts (September 2014) Create a comprehensive student guide on university academic life (October 2014) a. Include university policies (ie. Code of Conduct) b. Include school-specific policies and regulations c. Include simple processes for CrossInstitutional Units (inbound and outbound) d. Include Appeals processes (including school specific processes) e. Include a simple how-to change units/ courses f. Include the Study Abroad process/ contact details

Accounts
This year the Student Association is committed to forging an inclusive and captivating student culture around campus. To make this a reality, it hopes to achieve through the most ambitious events calendar in its history. The backbone for such a goal is a financially responsible, stable and growing treasury. Our goal is to create a larger, self-sustaining budget system by years end. Develop a cohesive sponsorship strategy ready for implementation in early Semester 1 (March 2014) Develop and offer businesses both comprehensive and exclusive packages (March 2014) Improve and develop our book-keeping strategies (April 2014) Increase the Student Associations involvement with businesses (July 2014) Gain local sponsorship (July 2014) Receive $30,000 in sponsorship for the first semester (July 2014) Develop the Student Association website and Facebook page as central media outlets for sponsors and students (July 2014)

Clubs
Student clubs are the lifeblood of our campus. Their capacity to engage, develop and inspire is unmatched in the university experience. We have already fostered the greatest number of active clubs in Notre Dame Australias history. Our greatest desire is to leave behind a legacy for clubs of new streamlined structures, the capacity for organizational memory, and the resources for greater growth and inclusivity. Aim for 20% of students to join a club at Orientation Day (February 2014) Create a functioning Presidential Sub-committee (March 2014) Streamline approvals processes for clubs (March 2014)

Communications
Our communications goal is that no student should feel out of touch, isolated or confused in the university system. This year, by widening our outreach through platforms such as a modern updated website, new offices, and social media, we hope to foster closer contact with students than ever before. We are committed to building new communication pathways, formal and informal, that are available to all. 2000 Facebook likes (January 2015) 500 Instagram followers by (January 2015) Establish a direct link between the ND Student Association page- www.nd.edu.au/ndsa- and our website (March 2014) Create and field a comprehensive student engagement survey (March 2014)

2014 Strategic Vision Write a detailed report outlining evidence and deductions made from that evidence (April 2014) Create marketing templates and guidelines for Student Association and club use (May 2014) 550 hits per month on our website www.undasa.org.au (July 2014) Finish the 2015 Diary before handover period starts (October 2014) Investigate the purchase, development, and introduction of a Student Association mobile application (October 2014)

Environment
We believe that the environment around our campus is unique, and that it contributes to a signature atmosphere, which separates us from other universities. We will focus on improving both the natural and built environment with projects such as green walls, and environmental conservation initiatives. We will place an emphasis on preserving our environment as an asset for years to come. Complete the mezzanine redevelopment by Orientation Day (February 2014) Install environmentally friendly lighting in ND3 (April 2014) Investigate (and possibly install) lockers for student use (May 2014) Investigate the growth of ivy on the St Teresas outside wall backing onto Henry st (May 2014) Move to recycled or environmentally friendly (forestry approved) paper in all Student Association printing (June 2014)

Events
At the Student Association, we want to be the facilitators of a vibrant student life and culture. We recognize the importance of students forging connections with their contemporaries, and other members of the university. As a consequence, our 2014 events calendar is the most ambitious Notre Dame Australia has ever seen. We will broaden the reach of events, stir greater excitement about our campus, and reconnect students with the City of Fremantle. Hold one campus event with 200 guests (October 2014) 4 Student Association social events (October 2014) Profit in each ticketed event (October 2014)

Fremantle Relations
We are incredibly lucky to be located in the beautiful, historically rich port town of Fremantle. In 2014 we are focused on working more closely with the Fremantle City Council and other Fremantle-based foundations, to better integrate our student community with the Fremantle community. We hope to begin a culture of

2014 Strategic Vision joint initiatives that will serve both great institutions well this year, and in years to come. Explore and develop a partnership between the Fremantle City Council and Student Association (August 2014) Develop a relationship with the Fremantle Foundation (August 2014) Hold at least two meetings with the Fremantle City Council per semester (November 2014) Create more opportunities to support the Fremantle community through volunteering, fundraising and exposure (ongoing) Lobby for the development of increased student accommodation on campus (ongoing)

Governance
As one of the fastest growing student associations in Western Australia, we recognize the importance of forming a stable governance structure. We refuse to be hamstrung by a lack of organizational memory, accountability or clarity. We believe that the 2014 committee has a duty to work behind the scenes in paving the way for our successors. Complete and organise archives (March 2014) Investigate the employment of a part time Student Association Managing Director (July 2014) Fully complete a new governance structure (August 2014) Complete a new Student Association Constitution by (September 2014) Get 50 people at the SA AGM (October 2014)

2014 Strategic Vision Have 500 votes cast in the Student Association General Election 2014 (October 2014) Fully complete regulations for each department (December 2014) Investigate an executive remuneration strategy for implementation in 2015 (July 2015)

Student welfare
Maintaining student mental health and wellbeing through their university degree is important to produce the best graduates, and has always been one of Notre Dames best attributes. We are committed to consolidating and extending Notre Dames reputation in this area. We will endeavor to be a place of support and reassurance for all students, and will be proactive in the pursuit of a welfare culture. Establish the Mental Health Advocate program in partnership with the Counselling department (April 2014) Ensure better international/ domestic student integration (September 2014) Develop a comprehensive student welfare portal on the Student Association webpage (September 2014) Establish, in partnership with the university, better, easier to use and more accessible grievance procedures (October 2014) Hold two successful student welfare campaigns (October 2014) Increase student knowledge of services available to students (November 2014)

University relations
Healthy relationships between stakeholders are essential to fulfill our vision for the university. We are committed to maintaining and building upon our relationships with all key university members and partners into the future. Improve our communication channels with Student Services (February 2014) Increase staff awareness of the work of the Student Association (August 2014) Hold regular meetings with Campus Services (ongoing) Hold regular meetings with the IT department (ongoing) Create and maintain a relationship with the Notre Dame Volunteer Network (ongoing) Become the primary voice for students in consultations about changes to the university, working towards a structure whereby the students have a direct say on issues that will affect their university experience (ongoing)
