BMCL 3113 PLANT DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

PBL ACTIVITY # 1 (27/02/2014) Instruction Work in your group to complete below tasks. 1. Discuss and decide what manufacturing plant that you want to study as your problem based learning work. 2. Decide further on the capacity of the plant such as for rice - 20 ton per hour. 3. Decide on raw materials that are required in the manufacturing processes. 4. Decide on the number of processes in order to produce the chosen products. 5. Organize the processes according to the sequence. 6. Draw the process flow diagram which includes the symbols of the equipment, the connecting lines of the processes, output/ products, byproducts if any. 7. List down step by step of the manufacturing process and refer to the drawing while describing the processes. 8. Submit your process flow diagram with the required explanation as prescribed. 9. Ensure that you use A3 size of paper for your submission.

Assessment This exercise will count for 4 % of your total grade.

Note : Please have in mind that this is the first process of plant design. So, there will be series of continuous work after this exercise.
