He was born on March 6,1619 in Paris France.

died in Paris on July 28, 1655. His death was banal according to some sources a piece of plank dropped on his head, but it did not kill him immediately. Most likely he died as a result of a street fight.

Life at War
De Bergerac came from one of his family's estates. He had a religious background; in the year of 1622 he studied with a priest that he disliked and complained about. In the year of 1637, at the age of nineteen Savinien Cyrano de Bergerac enlisted into the war, where he experienced: pain, loss and loneliness. When at war he read many plays one being Duels. Throughout these horrible years at war he was severely wounded, shot through the body, and hit on the back of his neck with a sword. For not being fully recovered from one of the wounds he decided to withdraw from the war and begin to study with a philosopher and mathematician by the name of Pierre Gassendi. With this new knowledge he discovered his passion for fictional writing.

The Encounter with Knowledge


When studying with Pierre Gassendi he learned from his theories and was able to based his ideas on these theories. His stories were influenced by his creativity and his love for science. De Bergerac not only wrote fictional stories, but also wrote political propaganda pamphlets. Later on he became well known for his famous play La Mort dAgrippine (The Death of Agrippine), he also based some of his plays on similar topics like The Cheats of Champion was based off of Le Pedant joue. One of his most loved plays released in the 1700s was Cyrano De Bergerac; the characters in this play experienced love, pain, and tragedy. Cyrano was a serious writer of philosophical romances and a virile lover. With all these famous books, plays, and poems; he touched several peoples hearts.
