ASH HANDLING SYSTEM

Ash is produced as a byproduct of combustion. Ash produced in about 10 20% of total coal burnt in the furnace.

It is desirable to quench the ash before handling. Quench reduces the temperature of ash. It reduces the corrosive action of ash.

TYPES OF ASH HANDLING SYSTEM

Hydraulic ash handling system Water Jetting Pneumatic system

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

WATER JETTING

PNEUMATIC SYSTEM

Upstream mechanical blower creates flow of conveying air. Ash is transferred from collection hoppers to conveying pipeline using double dump gate airlock valves. Ash is deposited in a silo mounted target box. Finally, the ash conveying air is exhausted to the atmosphere through a silo vent filter.
