CPC is a feature introduced with 3GPP release 7 CPC uses resources on radio interface more efficiently Uplink control channels are transmitted only when the user equipment (UE) has data to send Power consumption on UE is reduced

Precise battery life improvements also depend on UE hardware, network parameters and application traffic patterns

Why is it so important to have Continuous Packet Connectivity in HSPA+ networks?

Experts from Nokia Siemens Networks and Nokia collaboratively conducted tests at Nokia Siemens Networks Smart Labs in collaboration with experts from a tier-1 operator using Flexi Multiradio Base Station with commercial HSPA+ software, multicontroller and Nokia smartphones Measurements show the great benefits of Continuous Packet Connectivity

CPC minimizes uplink interference in the network and provides: - Up to 5 times larger uplink capacity allowing for more smartphone users - 60% higher user data rate
CPC significantly decreases power consumption in the user devices; device batteries last 15% longer
