OCCT 506: Form 4 Reflection Michelle Ashley Reflection The activity analysis assignment I completed for clinical reasoning

was eye opening. It allowed me to see how much effort and detail goes into performing a task such as baking bread. In normal day-to-day life, the majority of us do activities without thinking about what it takes to perform those activities, which makes it easy for us to take certain actions or abilities for granted. When breaking down every step, analyzing what body systems are involved, and what body functions are needed to carry out specific tasks, I started to realize how everything can be effected if one component is out of place. This assignment made me more cognizant of the layout of the environment you are working in, and how it contributes to an individuals functional mobility. This has allowed me critically analyze an individuals natural and built environment, as well as any impairments they have, to determine if the space in functional for them to perform their occupations. If I observe issues, I am now better equipped with the knowledge of how to modify the surroundings to enable the individual to have a space that is more functional for their use. I believe this will aid me when planning occupation-based interventions for clients. It will allow me to see how my client is completing their occupations, and provide suggestions for modifications that will benefit their performance.
