Revisiting Numbers

The unit, Revisiting Numbers, builds on students previous experiences with numbers. Rational number ideas are reviewed, extended, and formalized. We investigate relationships between operations and their inverses promote understanding of whole numbers, integers, and rational and irrational numbers. We also focus on exploring prime numbers, prime factorizations, and divisibility rules; analyzing algorithms for multiplication and division; discovering and relating whole numbers, integers, rational, and irrational numbers by looking at the results of basic operations with their inverses.
