Staci Gengler Discussion #2

Interesting Quote Do not confuse challenging learning experiences with quantity or complexity. Assigning more homework does not challenge students or enhance their learning; it gives them more to do. (p. 7 1) Big Idea Students will learn more efficiently if the subject matter is integrated into different subjects. The activities should have real-life meaning to them and help students to develop their own opinions and principles. Always teach lessons with multiple tiers of difficulty. Lastly students should be learning through diverse activities that the students wind intriguing. Make a Connection I agree with how the curriculum is developed. I recognized a connection between the textbooks we have been reviewing and the widening horizons approach to curriculum. This allows the students to first understand their inner circle, and then branch out to the community, state, country, and lastly the world. This approach is slightly outdated and in my classroom I would possibly implement current events of the nation to start introducing the community on a large scale.
