STOCKTAKE: BALANCING SUPPLY & DEMAND WORKSHOP

Stocktake is a paddock-scale land condition and management package. It provides graziers with a systematic way to: 1. Identify land types, assess land condition and long-term carrying capacity, and 2. Calculate short-term forage budgets. The package: One-day training workshop Training manual, including field assessment system and recording booklet Database which stores, organises and reports on field data; it can store images. Presenter, Bruce Lord, Community Partnerships Manager for SEQ Catchments and a grazier will lead discussions on the following topics: Identifying land types and important native and sown pasture species; Grazing management, principles to balance pasture growth, utilisation and animal performance; Using indicator species to assess and monitor pasture condition; Assessing land condition and long-term carrying capacity; Demonstrating how to carry out seasonal forage budgeting; Introduction to the DAFF Stocktake monitoring and recording package. When: Saturday 12th April Time: 8.30 a.m. 3.30 p.m. Morning tea/coffee and lunch provided. Where: Perseverance Hall with paddock session at nearby Groves property. Cost: $30 payable on day. SEQC and RDLG have been able to heavily subsidise the cost of the package (normally costs $300).
