Brief Description of Evidence:

As part of my ECED 245 School Age Practicum course during the fall semester of 2013, I worked in a second grade classroom and observed one child from that class who was to be my child assessment subject. This study was to focus on the progression of said childs English/language arts, mathematics, social emotional physical, personal care, social studies, fine arts and science development.

Analysis of What I Learned:

As a result of completing this project, I was able to conduct myself in a professional manner in an early childhood education setting. I have also learned how to create and implement lesson plans as well as set my own ethical guidelines and standards that relate to early childhood education.

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the NAEYC Standard:

Through my observation of my chosen case study subject and implementation of lesson plans created I was able to conduct myself in a professional manner in an early childhood setting. I followed the guidelines set by both my professor and mentor for the lesson plans implemented into the classroom I was completing my practicum in. I related my lesson plans and notes to early childhood theorists and practices. Through this project I was able to work collaboratively with parents, students and school staff to provide the student with multiple learning tools to further his education. As I reflect on the observations, lesson plans and other collaborative work completed by myself, mentors and professors I can meet the standards required by early childhood practices.
