People cause change In the United State the Indians were the first people and they hunted

and gathered their food to survive. In the 1500s explorers came and found the United States and established settlements where people had to learn to grow their food. In the 1600s farmers started growing main crops to sell and not just to feed their family. In the 1800s road and railroads brought new people and businesses so settlements grew to be towns and cities with factories. (What was the name of one of the first settlements and who discovered it?) Events cause change Many different immigrants from different countries came to the United States to live which caused change (Can anyone tell me what kind of changes you think were caused by immigrants coming to the US?) Another event that changed America was the womens suffrage movement. (Can you tell me what suffrage is?) The Civil Rights movement also changed the lives of African Americans in the US by giving them equal rights. Amendments had to be made to the Constitution because of these changes. Ideas cause change The US was the first country based on freedom. Many settlements were ruled by Britain and were called colonies. The settlers decided to fight a revolution to change how they were ruled. (What was the idea that caused the revolution? Why did the settlers want to change the way they were ruled?) A republic was set up by voting to choose government leader so the US could rule itself instead of being ruled by Britain.
