The mission of Idaho Professional-Technical Education is to provide youth and adults with the technical skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for successful performance in a highly effective workplace.

~~ Professional-Technical Education has 781 programs in 112 Idaho school districts. Nearly all of Idahos high school students enrolled in at least one professionaltechnical education course. ~~ There are 28 Professional-Technical Education high school courses that meet academic standards for science credit, economics credit or health credit. ~~ Close to 7,000 students were enrolled in 12 professional-technical schools offering 93 programs. ~~ Sixty-six percent of PTE high school program completers enroll in college as compared to 49% of the general student population. ~~ Ninety-three percent of high school and 91% of technical college professional-technical education completers in Idaho successfully found jobs or continued their education. ~~ Tech Prep articulation agreements provide students an opportunity to earn college credits for PTE classes. Over 15,900 students earned more than 25,000 credits that were eligible to be transcripted at the postsecondary level. ~~ Over 9,000 full and part-time students enrolled in technical college degree or certificate programs. ~~ The Centers for New Directions, located on technical college campuses, served 909 single parents and displaced homemakers.

~~ Over 51,000 adults participated in short term training to improve their job skills through Idahos technical colleges. Of those, 6,900 were enrolled in emergency services training. ~~ The Idaho Certified Public Manager (CPM) Program graduated 54 state employees in FY 11. Program standards require graduates to complete 250 classroom hours on public management theory and practice, pass a comprehensive exam, and implement a job-related project. ~~ Idahos Adult Basic Education (ABE) program served nearly 6,700 adults. ~~ In Idaho, over 6,000 adults completed their GED. ~~ Over 20,000 state employees were provided access to wellness education and opportunities, through the state wellness program. ~~ Nearly 80% of Idahos jobs require less than a baccalaureate degree. (Idaho Department of Labor) ~~ According to the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce, by 2018, 61% of Idaho jobs will require at least some form of postsecondary credential.
